Poggio Le Volpi

On a hill pointing eastward, about 400 metres above sea level –in 1996 – Armando Mergè and his son Felice came up with the brilliant idea of starting up their own wine company, Poggio Le Volpi. Thirty-five hectares of volcanic land in the heart of the Castelli Romani, in Monte Porzio Catone, a few miles away from the Capital City.
Their main goal from the very beginning was to produce indigenous wines, where technological innovation was a way to an authentic interpretation of the surrounding environment and a valorization of its ampelographic wealth
By selecting only the healthiest vineyards (particularly Malvasia del Lazio and Trebbiano) and the best grapes, and by being loyal to the family philosophy of expressing the pure terroir concept, some truly enological jewels have seen the light: such as Epos’ Frascati Superiore Docg, Asonia Frascati Doc Spumante, Donnaluce Lazio Igp (from Greco and Chardonnay), top red wine Baccarossa Lazio Igp (where the indigenous Nero Buono plays an important role), and all the other Poggio Le Volpi labels, like the DOC Roma wines (white, rosè, red and reserve).
